Which NPCs get negative HP rule?

And the players say:

"Wow, good point Mr. DM! I go slit his throat."

Which works great, so long as the PCs aren't, you know, Good or anything. Or *gasp* heaven forbid, a paladin is in the party!

In my game everyone gets this benefit, monsters and PC's alike. Sometimes the PC's kill the negative HP bad guys while they're unconscious. Other times the Cleric may even even heal the bad guy back up to positive HP's so that the party can question him. It all depends on who the enemy is and the situation.

I like to play what's good for the PC's is good for the baddies. It can get a bit complicated if you have to make stabilization rolls for 20 mooks though. In those cases I just let some of them die without rolling to stabilize.

I'm a good aligned person. This other evil person, possibly a worshipper of a dark god who is the actual embodiment of evil, death, slaughter, tyranny, or any other number of bad things just tried to kill me. It dedicates it's entire existence to doing things that are naughty.

No I will not "tie it up and question it." It is getting a warhammer to the skull before it gets back up and tries to eat a baby.

Adventuring on behalf of goodness and light is dangerous enough already without leaving loose ends.

As for paladins, it would depend on their code and who the foe was. I find it difficult to imagine a paladin of bahamut not finishing off a fallen red dragon. Or a paladin of... well... ANYTHING not finishing off an unconscious demon/devil.
