Hmm, I'd forgotten that Ptolus included Chaositech on the CD. Hmm... :hmm:

The PDF of Chaositech that is on the Ptolus CD is expanded to include more stuff that isn't in the original print run of the book.

My vote is for Ptolus as well. It set the bar for quality products and due its sheer volume you'll have more material than you know what to do with.

I would have liked to cast a second vote for Grim Tales, too. Another great product that delivers on both "fluff" and "crunch".

It is a good product, but it should be noted that it is more of a toolkit and includes a lot more crunch than fluff. It can supplement D20 Modern, but it is really meant to stand alone from it. I'm of the opinion that Grim Tales is a better system for GMs wanting to run D20 Cthulhu campaignsthat can't afford to buy the now expensive and hard to find D20 Cthulhu game from WotC.

I can't vouch for all of those books on the list. But of the ones you have listed that I have read, I would heartily recommend "Grimm's Grim Tales."

And if I could steer you away from any of those books on the list, it would be the "Book of Erotic Fantasy." Not because it is bad, but because it needs a very specific style of game with a very specific group of players, in order to really get your money's worth.

FWIW, It is GRIM TALES.

Had to go with 3.5 Arms & Armor. I don't own that may third party 3E books, but this one got a lot of use in the 3E Planescape game I was involved in.

I said Book of the Righteous, as hands down the best 3.5 cosmology out there.

Wilderlands is really great, so is Ptolus, and so is Necromancer's Lost City of Barakus.

Any of these would be good buys.
