I think it is fair to say it is "most similar" to d20 Modern.

A bare-bones Grim Tales would run a "heroic normals" game. Then you just start adding back the components you need based on the genre you want to run-- magic, fantasy feats, guns, vehicles, etc.

How easy would it be to bring the following into Grim Tales?
- Blood and Fists
- Elements of Magic: Mythic Earth
- Psychic's Handbook using Wild Talent and the Psychic Advanced Class
- Hot Pursuit

It's really mostly new, unless you count animals. There are a few nods to classic concepts, like the "sepia shake" and "blood weird" (which is really a red colored classic water weird).
Yeah, I discovered its content today when I decided to just to buy it. I'm glad I did. It's a great book with a lot of great ideas beyond just the monster entries. The planes appendix is very interesting.

TOH III had a few more nods to classics, though slightly altered as they didn't have any arrangement with WotC as they did in ToHI. e.g. Demonic Knight is their take on a Death Knight, they have a more faithful-to-1e demilich, etc.
I'm still thinking of getting ToH III. If I can find it.

Blanket answer: If it's d20, it's easy.

- Blood and Fists

If it is primarily feat- and talent- based (as opposed to, say, prestige classes), then it should be seamless.

- Elements of Magic: Mythic Earth
- Psychic's Handbook using Wild Talent and the Psychic Advanced Class

I'd just pick one magic system and go with it. So, either vanilla GT, EOM, or PsyH.

GT's magic system is feat and talent-based.

- Hot Pursuit

Heh. Hot Pursuit is an outgrowth from GT.

It does use prestige advanced classes... and I still think it would be relatively seamless.

The prestige classes really only put you on an alternate "talent track", which is almost the same as just picking up another base class in GT.

Thanks for the clarification!

The only difference, then, is one of philosophical preference: I prefer for GT to only use the the six base classes, and to roll prestige and advanced class abilities into generally available feats and talents. (In fact I did exactly that with all of the feats, talents, and abilities of core d20 Modern and most of 3e D&D.)

But there is certainly no reason that you couldn't add additional classes back to the six base classes. They will easily "stack."

Out of that list? Ptolus, no question. No question at all.

The number 2 choice:
Lost City of Barakus

Honorable Mention:
Shelzar
