This can't be a serious poll, we all know who would win. But I would like to see Quention Tarrentino direct LotR. ;)

Well he 'got the job' not because it was cheap, but because he was the guy leading it. Nobody wanted to risk their neck on a project like this, and maybe would point to Bakshi's much-derided attempt. PJ succeeded, and in spades, and frankly I don't think any Hollywood director would have the familiarity or the love of the trilogy to do what he's done.

I'd say we get Martin Scorsese. That way, he can cast Leonardo Dicaprio in the starring role.

:D

I'm with Krug on this, I don't think any director has the amount of passion like PJ did when he directed the Trilogy (and it shows). If you want the Hobbit to be a part of the Lord of the Rings Trilogy (a Prequel if you may), than you would have to have PJ directing it. Although I know PJ would like a break from the trilogy, I'm sure he would like to work with a lot of the same actors again, atleast that is what he has said in interviews. :D

hmm.. in an effort to post SOMETHING for the Courtney Solomon side (a rather enemic position, to be sure)....

If Courtnet was to do The Hobbit, maybe his effects houses could up and leave the movie on him.
We'd be left with some lame shot of a dragon flying over the lake and getting hit with the arrow, the Dragon Hoard scene would be deleted because they didn't have the money for the effects, and the Battle of the Five Armies would be reduced to a tiddlywinks game between the generals (since it would be too expensive for an actual battle and it would take up too much screentime - kinda like the "Dungeon-delve" in the D&D movie.)
