David Lynch or Stanley Kubrick. :p
j/k
A David Lynch The Hobbit would at least be interesting.

Kubrick, however, having been dead for 4.5 years now, probably couldn't pull it off.

Well if he were still alive. :p
A completely psychadelic Hobbit where classical music plays in the background while naked Halflings frolic around the screen.

I wouldn't mind Ridley Scott taking a shot at The Hobbit. He usually does a great job on any film he undertakes. I bet he would have done a great job on Lord of the Rings if he would have had the motivation to undertake such a task.

PJ's done a good job on the films. Though I am disappointed with the changes Peter Jackson made to the story, he still deserves all the accolades being showered upon him. This is the greatest fantasy epic ever made and it has set a new bar for special effects and epic scale battles. I'm sure he would do an equally good job with The Hobbit.

I'd be startled if they didn't.

They'd want to use as much of the same crew as they could, and obviously a few of the locations are already established.

Hi Hyp,

That's not how Hollywood works, unfortunately. Everything will be redone "fresh".

We're not in Hollywood :D

I firmly believe that if Jackson does the Hobbit, he'll insist on doing it here, and he'll do what he can to keep continuity with what he's already filmed.

The Shire and Rivendell in particular.
