Picked Eberron as the best overall. "Curse of Strahd" is the best of the adventures, but suffers in comparison with the original. The next best, IMO, is "Rime of the Frostmaiden".
I didn't pick either Volo's or Mordenkainen's guides, as I don't particularly care for either as a whole. However, the sections on new monsters are great. (Similarly, I'm guessing "Monsters of the Multiverse" is a winner, though I don't own it.) Finally, "Storm King's Thunder" is not a particularly good adventure, but I really like the concept, think it makes for a great setting guide, and has some really good dungeons in there.
Also, wasn't there a compiled volume of the "Tyranny of Dragons" campaign? Shouldn't that be on the list?
Am with you on those choices. Eberron is one of my favourite 'official' settings (can't include Ptolus, Golarion or Midgard!) & am looking forward to Keith's sandbox setting when it finally is printed!
Curse of Strahd has been the best overall campaign I have both read & run. Oozes with flavour. Wasn't scary enough in the end, with pcs being tough enough & with specialist gear & classes dedicated to undead killing.... would like to run just the castle part again, like in the original.
Am running Rime atm. Lots of fantastic material in there & with careful planning & pc creation, my players are having a blast, esp the one playing a Goliath Rune Knight, who is currently growing to the size of a frost giant (just what he wanted!). But it has needed far more judicious GM changes/ tweaking than CoS, making it Campaign #2.
The last official printed campaign I really want to run is Baldurs Gate: Descent into Avernus. Whilst this is chock full of logical errors, etc, Justin Alexander's Remix will save me on those issues & the Mad Max in Hell part.... what isn't there to like!!
1st part of Out of the Abyss is great fun.... but it loses its way for Act 2 (when they return into the Underdark) SKT had a great story concept (right out of King Lear), but whilst having lots of kewl parts.... yeah. It needs a massive rewrite, as Justin Alexander has blogged about. Not run it & intend to loot it, along with OotA for adventure sites. At some point I want to run a massive Underdark campaign, mashing parts of OotA + Night Below + Rise of the Drow + Empire of Ghouls + Spelunking Guide.
I also WANT to get Monsters of the Multiverse!
