Saturday begins the first session of my new Lankhmar game (converted over to 3.5, using UA's generic classes). I ran it back in the days of 2nd ed. as well (using Skills & Powers for building classes better suited for the setting, like non-magical rangers, bards, and paladins).

The events in campaign take place after the Twain has retired to Rime Isle, so the PCs have a decent opportunity of becoming the ext greatly renowned heroes of Lankhmar.

Never played any of them (other than one-shots run by other folks); probably never will. I far prefer homebrew systems.

Spelljammer forever! I haven't actually played it in the last year, but that's not too long, and I'd start up a game again at the drop of a hat.

Especially with that new Eberron/Spelljammer/Planescape thread...

Mmmm... Eberrspace...

:uhoh:

Other than that, nothing much. I like Dragonlance and own the books, but don't feel compelled to play it over homebrew, Conan, Modern, Iron Kingdoms, Spelljammer or Eberron

If you want a guest player for a game or two, drop me an email. I'd love to try Deadlands with a judge who understands the rules!
Well, I can't promise I'll understand the rules completely, but I'm certainly gonna try :).

I've owned the game since it came out (I had my gamestore then), and I have a bunch of the supplements, but have never GM'd it.

We made up characters last week, and tried a few combats between the players...it went ok, but being used to playing D20 it seems so weird and different. The system really fits the setting though, and I'd not want to try the D20 version, because it would be missing something.

You're welcome to join us, I'll drop you a line.

I'm not playing any of them really, but I do use stuff from Al-Qadim, Forgotten Realms, Greyhawk, maybe Planscape, and anywhere else I can get it in my homebrew world...of course, it might not be recognizable, but hey, thats not my problem.

I'm actually a bit frustrated how a number of our non-d20 games have gone the wayside as our GMs have hit the d20 trail. Deadlands is one of the few to have survived, and I appreciate its weird mechanics. The d20 version was interesting but did not capture the game's flavour --- mostly due to the d20 emphasis on balance. Some of my favourites have been Earthdawn, Elric, and Call of Cthulhu, all with interesting systems.

On the plus side, I am looking forward to dusting off The Whispering Vault and Kult for some October gaming madness...

I still and will always run Forgotten Realms, Planescape and Ravenloft. Included in that is Kara-Tur, of course. A friend of mine is DMing a great game with the new Dragonlance stuff and he still runs Al-Qadim from time to time. I actually haven't seen too much that can rival most of those old TSR settings from 1st and 2nd edition. Granted the focus seems more on creating campaign settings that offer a unique experience for a shorter period of time. That seems to be the case for the third party d20 settings and even WotC's Eberron. There are a few exceptions out there, but the majority of the new campaign settings just seem that way.
