Which product has the best Witch?

The Hamlet of Thumble also has a pretty good witch. It's like a sorcerer, but with the special abilities of a druid (kinda -they get to shape change), and a fairly unique spell list.

Thanks for the mention, trancejeremy!

If you are looking for a witch class that follows standard d20 progression and is structured as if it would fit easily into the PHB, then I'd recommend the one in The Hamlet of Thumble (already one of the Top 20 d20 products of all time, according to EN World).

There are over 30 new spells including Bewitch, Confession, Exorcism, Hex, Hysteria, Maddening Rage, Pact, Temptation, and Venomous Spit to name just a few.

This witch also has class abilities like Shape Shift, Monstrous Strength, and as a bonus, the new feat Craft Charm which allows her to create an item containing an "anyone can use" one-charge Enchantment spell.

That's pretty much what I think of when I think of a witch.

That sounds awesome Ed:), Particularly that "Craft Charm" thing.

Hey, thanks! I'm always afraid to shamelessly plug my product on the messageboards, but I think it is a very good product and I just want to get the word out.

Well, I've tried to go for a very traditional witch class focusing on enchantment and shape shifting abilities. She has an advantage with charm-type spells and can shape shift into giants or even dragons at higher levels. Most of my research was based on medieval text and looking at how witches were portrayed at the time.

For example, many of the witch's spells include material components that were commonly used by medieval witches: toad's head, bat's blood, etc.

There are even new magic items such as the Broom of Flying and the Cauldron of Witchcraft.

Anyhow, if you'd like, send me your mailing address and I'd be happy forward a copy to you! :)

Before this gets shut down... :)

I think that both Mongoose Publishing's Quintessential Witch and Green Ronin's The Witch's Handbook are both excellent, excellent books, but if I was forced to choose, Quint. Witch is my favorite of the two.

And they're both not exactly mutually exclusive, so get both!

Wow - I'm going to have to pick this up! :)

My favvorite would have to be the Arcana Unearthed witch. The AU witch is not your standard fantasy witch, but boy is it a great class. An AU witch has two choices at character creation: a wirchery aspect and a manifestation. So, for example, you might create a Iron witch with the Song manifestation, giving you Armor Song as a special ability in addition to the Iron Witch abilities. At higher levels you get more manifestations. With 6 witch types and 5 manifestations, plus the fact that creating new witch types would be easy, witches are a suitably varied class. You can easily make it a very traditional witch, or you can expand it into a whole mess of unothadox magic. The whole idea of the AU witch is they do what they want with magic, using their own methods indstead of the highly researched methods of the Magistars.
I know this isn't a "traditional" witch, but you can easily make it one, and the class can be expanded into all kinds of magic users. Thats one of the things I like about the AU witch: being a witch dosen't mean you have to follow any of the other traditional "witch" stereotypes, it means you practice an unusual type of magic.

Just a friendly reminder that religion and politics are topics that are not allowed at En World, so let's try and be respectful to our host. :)

And to get back on topic: I almost forgot - AEG's Swashbuckling Adventures also includes a core Witch class that's kind of nifty.

Hey, lets all just calm down. I think that some of what's been said on both sidea has merit, but lets just back off and get back to discussing roleplaying games. Remember, this is about fantasy witchs, not anybody in real life.

Folks, as you probably know, discussing religion isn't tolerated here. Any religion. That being said, please use the "report a post" link under every post instead of responding angrily.

The thread stays open, and I'm deleting the religious commentary.
