Which resource and power systems did you use often?

Which resource management / Spellcasting systems did you use for 3E

Of those listed, I use both Spontaneous (Core) and Unearthed Arcana Spell points with the vitalizing option (I also use Spontaneous Divine Magic (UA) and some third party systems).

As for the other systems mentioned, I dislike them and will not use them when I run. Furthermore, several of the listed options are, actually, deal breakers and I'll leave a game using them.

Psionics (XPH version, less so for the 3e version) and incarnum were both extremely popular throughout my longest running 3e/3.5 campaign. By the time Tome of Magic and Tome of Battle came out, we were playing less D&D, but we did use those systems at every opportunity. One mini-campaign I ran had the following PCs: Swordsage, Wizard/Swordsage, Fighter/Rogue/Swordsage, Incarnate/Samurai, and Scout.

We've used everything extensively except Tome of Magic and the Unearthed Arcana casting variants.

Tome of Battle and Expanded Psionics were certainly favourites around the table, perhaps even in preference to several core options. A lot of our games have many fights in a day, so we grew to love the endurance and versatility of the options in those books.

None of the above.

Elements of Magic: Revised Edition all the way, baby! RangerWickett wrote it, so you know it's cool.

Having started to play 3.x again a couple weeks back, I am starting to remember why I started using 3rd-party rules.

That is one of the third party supplements that I use

Let me guess. Because while many of the underpinnings of 3e are good, the game does have some issues. Furthermore, unlike the WOTC offerings, you find the 3rd -party material fixes or adds to the game in a satisfactory manner. At least that is why I started using 3rd party rules like EOM:RE ;)

Mostly it's the lack of uniformity among spells. I am constantly looking up what my Druid is capable of. Does this spell allow a saving throw? What's the range again? How long is the duration?

With EoMR that's all much easier to remember. Also, having to constantly explain to the DM and the other players how spells work is kind of irritating. If I'm gonna be doing that I might as well be using a new system instead of the RAW.

While I made almost all of those available in my campaigns (except ToB, which I disliked), 99% of the players only used the Core stuff. (I didn't care for Warlocks either, but didn't expressly bar them.)

And as a player, Core is about all most of the other DMs allowed, though I did get to use Psionics once or twice.

The three main characters I actually played in the 3E era were a Tome of Battle Warblade, a Warlock, and a Psychic Warrior, which probably gives some indication of how I voted in the poll. :)

3E Warlocks were nice because they were simple to run, and feats like Maximize Spell-like Ability helped a lot in giving them some extra potency in moments of crisis (which actually works a lot like 4E Encounter and Daily Powers, now that I think about it).

The Tome of Battle completely transformed the entire campaign I was playing in. Practically everyone took at least a few levels in one of that book's classes.

Of course, I voted for the Core casting types too, since they were also seen heavily in the games I played in. I owned the books for the rest, but they never quite seemed to work well enough to justify dedicating a character to.

...I wonder what poll option the 3.5E Ninja class would fall under.

Probably the same one that barbarian, monk, paladin, and bard fall under: one-trick ponies with limited daily uses of their trick. Rage, stun, smite, and inspire courage respectively. (Wait, what do you mean "bards have spells"?)

Vote Homebrew for Arcana Unearth/Evolved system which is kind of Vancian (select a new palate each day) and kind of not (not fire and forget).
