Which Retro-Clone would you use for DL Classic?

I guess I would ask, crunch-wise, what would the system require to run a DL game? What crunchy bits exist in DL that AD&D may have that clones may not?
There are already AD&D stats for Kender, etc., and all the special spells and magic items are designed for AD&D. Converting to another system wouldn't be hard by any means, but it's still an extra step.

Absolutely Right. But I was asking because the OP said he does not want to use the original system (in this case AD&D). Being that most of the DL conversions/crunch would be available in a rules format that is highly compatible whether one was using S&W WB, OSRIC, MCM B/X, to C&C, it should then simply be a question of "what system would I prefer to run?"..rather than "what is best?". If you get my drift :)

True, but we don't know why. If it's just a matter of it not being easily accessible by everyone in his group, OSRIC is free and available online.

That said, I'd go with C&C anyway -- I remember all of AD&D's warts and don't miss (most of) them.

Thanks for the answers. I suggested OSRIC, but most of the group are now more familiar with 3.x so we will switch to Pathfinder...

anyway, thanks again for the answer :)
