It's actually quite good in my experience, but it takes some discipline and effort to make it work for you. That clickbait "you won't believe what WotC did this time?!" video will spawn dozens of other videos just like it in your feed so don't click them. If the algorithm gets it wrong and something pops up in your feed you don't like, click the don't suggest this channel or not interested button. I'm pretty good about doing these things and a quick check now showed that all 10 of the first 10 suggested videos are things I would watch.

The only problem is sometimes I'm trying to research how to fix something and I watch 2 or 3 videos about the topic and the algorithm decides "man, this guy loves snow blower content. here's some more videos about snow blower repair!" and it takes a bit to clean that up again.

I dont block stuff. My feeds full of gen X music, the good D&D channels and some geopolitical stuff vs American politics.

I'll throw on Alice in Chains or Soundgarden and let it go from there

I wish I could actually block stuff. lol

Despite following the process I follow, it's not entirely foolproof because every so often Dungeons and Discourse creeps back into my feed.

Yeah I see her thumbnails occasionally.

She did one good video during OGL thing. Apart from that bleah.

Yeah you gotta be real deliberate and real proactive with your YouTube feed or it'll steer you towards the grifterverse every damn time.

Facebook, is of course The Site That Commits That Also Tells Me What My Parents Are Doing

It has only gotten worse in the past five years

Facebook exclusively for RPG and game groups. I don't use my real name. If my family wants to talk to me they must call me, text or send an email.

Discord for our by weekly online RPG sessions.

I watch gaming channels on YouTube, but not the big click bait names. Very useful when I want to repair my snowblower, mower, refrigerator, dryer, etc.... and gardening advice.

I have a Mastodon account but only used for a week. I don't go there anymore. I should cancel it.
