White Wolf vs. Mongoose

Yeah, I like the Scarred Lands gods -- I think that's one of the setting's strong points. They're still not as cool as the Book of the Righteous gods, though. Lately, I've been seriously thinking about using the Armies of the Abyss "gods." ;)

Well at least I can say they don't foul up as much as some other gods in various settings. But I will agree the ones you mention are quite good. :)

I still don't see how you can say the gods are bland. I mean come on! Vangal wiped the floor with most of the Titans, Chardun ripped his own mom's CHEST open, Corean fought and forges his sword into Golthagga. Chern created the best damn rift between elves and dwarves (okay dark elves but still!), I don't see it maybe.
No, no. The gods are cliche. It's the monsters that are bland.

CC Revised also will be better since now you can template HAGS, along with Unhallowed. Believe it's much better than the first one.
See, this doesn't do much for me because I don't like the monsters to begin with. The only one that I can even remember thinking "that's kind of neat" when reading was the Bottle Imp. And that was only because it was similar to something I was already using in my campaign...

Overall, I found myself shaking my head in disappointment (when things started off well, but then just kind of lost my interest) and disbelief (when things were so amazingly uninteresting to me) when reading both the Creature Collection and Creature Collection II, that out of all of the products mentioned, I am least likely to pick up anything that says "Scarred Lands" on it.

Lamentation of thieves
D20 Cyberpunk

Maybe, after I look at them, I'll also pick up Termana and Ultimate Divine Spells. Or maybe not.

Nothing else on that list really interests me. I wonder what Kenzer and Atlas have coming out in the same period? They usually get most of my money, but I also tend to buy Necromancer Games' modules.

I enjoy Kenzer, Atlas and AEG products as well mind you but if you put all three of them together, I don't think you'd get the velocity that Mongoose and White Wolf have.

I find that VERY hard to believe...obviously you've not really read a lot about the gods. They certainly out do most other gods save the aforementioned Book of the Righteous and demon Princes.

I find this incredible hard to believe... I mean look at something like CROWN naga (nagas you can use to shoot as arrows for crying out loud) Slacerian Dragons! Hell Slacerian ANYTHING! These are some of the most interesting monsters on the planet. Far out doing (and obviously I'm a little biased but don't think I'm wrong here), monsters from most other settings. Other than Tome of Horrors or perhaps Liber Beastarius, I really DON'T see any of the MM monsters or even Fiend Folio monsters being more innvovative or interesting. Thulkans, Steel Giants, Ferals (especially ferals!), Blade Demons, Blood Horror Demons, Grisley Minstrel Daemons, I'm almost at a loss as to how you can find any of these bland.

Well. Come on. It's like, no contest. A wolf, of any color, would kick a mongoose's butt.

*read thread*

Oh. Err. No comment.

Of course I haven't read a lot about them. There was absolutely nothing about them that caught my eye in the one book that I have that had info in them. After the very good reviews about Creature Collection II, I gave the setting a second chance, and yet again it did not meet my personal expectations. I am glad that you enjoy it, though. It's just not my thing, and I'm not going to waste more money giving it a third chance.

I forgot to mention "silly" in my other post. When reading the books, I was overcome with the sense of silliness that I get when I watch a low budget horror movie. Some of the names alone are enough to make me giggle. Ferals? Blood Horror Demons? Grisley Minstrel Daemons? Please. That B-movie stuff just doesn't fit in with the tone of my campaign world, nor does it interest me.

Anyway, before I unintentionally slip further into "bash" mode, I'm going to end this post. I don't want to insult a fellow gamer's campaign setting because if a fellow gamer enjoys it, that's all that counts.
