Who bought the Silver Munches?

How in the world are the bean counters going to know about that story? The bean counters aren't gamers. They don't visit these websites.

At least I hope they aren't gamers, because that would just be too sad if they were.

Umm, not only are the "bean counters" gamers, but one of them is a prominent member of this board, and posting his responses to Sean "capitalism is evil" Reynolds on the other thread.

Wizards of the Coast, Hasbro, and even the old TSR, were all businesses. The whole point is to make more money than you spend on making the product. That's what employs people to make the game in the first place. That is how their families eat and have housing and clothing.

Re

Jollyninja,

There were 6 Prestige classes I believe. All fit the area. I don't think there were any new feats.

The Prestige classes were more of the NPC type prestige classes specific to the area. They were quite good in my opinion.

Book was great. Best regional book I have read in a while. Even incorporated a rules system for handling weather and such.

I hope all the regional books they come out with in the future are as good as the Silver Marches.

I hope people buy it. I still don't understand why Lords of Darkness didn't sell. Though I did hold off on buying it for quite a while, but I finally picked it up. Read it. It is another good addition to the realms and a well designed and written book.

If you haven't already, anyone who runs the Realms should pick up Lords of Darkness. It is a great help in designing campaigns oriented around a particular group of evil folks like the Zhentarim/Church of Bane of the Drow in Cormanthyr forest.

Agreed. In fact, I use Lords of Darkness more than Magic of Faerun!

Roll on Thursday when I can finally pick up Silver Marches here in Forwards/Backwards Land....

Cheers

I picked mine the second i saw it at the shop. I wasn't disapoined either. No feats, 6 PrC's, a few new monsters, and a couple of adventures for those of who want crunch! The book has a trove of information for dm's to create fun inspired and well fleshed out games in the area of the silver marches. If the other area suplements are of this quality I can't wait for them. Much better that any of the second ed suplements, espiecally those ridiculous volo guides.

Nope. Doesn't really interest me. I have the FR campaign setting, but other than that, I don't buy the supplements. All my games are in my own world anyway.

There is a difference though between "making a profit" and "making a huge profit". From reading between the lines, it seems that the books are making a decent profit, but not a big enough one for the bean-counters. E.g., let's say the bean-counters say "Here's $10,000. Make a book that will make us $18,000." When the book is done and has sold for a while, the bean-counters say "Hey, that book only made us $15,000! Now, this is a serious failure!" - forgetting that it did give them a profit of $5,000 which is nothing to sneeze at. Numbers pulled from thin air, but the principle is the thing here.

Nope- I didnt buy it.

I don't play in the Realms but own the FRCS, Monsters of Faerun, and Magic of Faerun. I looked at the book, and Silver Marches doesn't do anything for me. I run my own campaign and use the FR books to pick mechanics and stuff like that out of (though usually I just buy them to add to my collection). History, background, and fluff, I don't need. I do that myself.
