Who conjures themselves, I mean really people...

OK---who changed my transmuter into a conjurer?

I've had an NPC for a long time now (2+ years) running in my game and his beef was that he was always after the unicorns (just like Kelek in the old D&D cartoon). He was chasing the power of teleportation thinking it would make him quite powerful- and I'm sure it would! Anyway, he's a transmuter with Conjuration spells prohibited in 3.0...

Now however, teleportation is conjuration in 3.5.. Is he trying to conjure himself to where he wants to go :rolleyes: ?

Thought it was weird, that's all. Now I have to redo all his abilities and spells without the PC's noticing too much.

I think the rationale is that conjuration has to do with transportation accross planar boundaries....so the same stuff that can bring a badger from celestia can bring you to Whoville.

Astral Projection has nothing to do with travel, per se. It is Necromancy because the spell separates one's soul or consciousness ("astral self") from their bodies, inserting it into the Astral Plane. The astral self's exploration of the planes is similar to "travel", but the character's body is never moved or affected in any way.

yep- sorta. Teleport and teleport without error were both "Alteration" spells, which is essentially Transmutation now.
 

I'm a transmuter player as well, but I think it makes sense, or at least cuting down transmutation made sense, and these spells were an ok choice. I had to totally rejig my character in the 3-3.5 changeover, but my DM was happy, and now I get to summon monsters!
