*sigh* I always come up with poll ideas during weekend slow-times :(

As a curiosity that's sprung out of one of the threads - how often do you play RPGs with people you don't know? Do you tend to only game with your groups of friends? Does your gaming groups have a high player turn-over rate? Do you do lots ofyour gaming at conventions? Or in gaming-stores or clubs where you often play with new folks? You may choose more than one option.

Almost everyone I ever played with I new personally, and in the rare cases I didn't, some other player knew him very well already

Stable group.

The core of the group I game with has been together for close to 10 years. (i've only been around 6 or 7)

We only pick up people as we lose one for some reason or another.

I'm the odd man in a stable group. Everyone other then me has know each other (and gamed together) for many years. It's cool being the new guy, this is the first time I've ever been the new guy. I've been gaming together with them for a few months and it's gone seemless. I'm lucky to have found such a good group that was willing to take a chance on a new guy. :D

The only reason I'm gaming right now is that I have a good friend who used to play and is willing to play again (and is having fun). With a college in town, I'm sure I could find many players. But I want players I'm very comfortable with for a variety of reasons.

I pretty much always play with a stable group of my friends, all of which I've known long before ever playing D&D with them. My first long running campaign (junior high through high school was with three of my cousins, my brother and one of my friends with a few other friends drifting in and out occasionally.

My second campaign (college) was with my brother and about six or seven of my good friends (one of which is now my brother-in-law).

My current groups are a combo of my first two groups and people I've met since - my wife, brother, cousin, two of my brothers-in-law, and four friends (one who played in my original campaign, two who played in my college campaign, and one who I hand't known during those periods).

There have been very few exceptions.

Like Umbran, I've played with about 10 or so fellow ENboarders a couple of times this year at EN Board Boston gatherings. Both times were lots of fun.

Also, during a period after I graduated when most of my friends were still either at school or living elsewhere, I joined a group of strangers who posted an ad for a player at the game store. Unfortunately, it didn't really work out due to a combination of lack of time and different playing styles.

Oh if only this thread was on Nutkinland... I could go SOOOO many places with this thread topic... :D

MOVING RIGHT ALONG......

I game regularly with my group of friends, and also playtest for Creative Moutain Games on a fairly regular basis.
