Well, apparently from the description of the new OGL terms, it wouldn't be allowed under "community standards." Which is a totally retarded thing to put into the OGL. Of course we're not allowed to even read the OGL unless we're a serious company waving $5k. Suck.
Perhaps. But you can always wait (either June 2008 or January 2009).

Side track: It's just in the d20 STL (version 6), the OGL is still at version 1.0a according to Wizards' d20 system license site. Anthoiny Valterra was trying to rush it into production in 2003 because he knew the d20 STL was changing and wanted it to still be d20 stamped; however, if I recall correctly, it was OGL, just not d20-stamped.
Lucky for him, the rushing of production didn't affect the quality of the final product.

Mind you, many d20 gamers were crying foul over this then-controversial gamebook.

In all honesty, after having seen the preview at GenCon '03 I was quite looking forward to the BoEF...and found it an immense disappointment. I was kinda hoping for something better than I'd already halfway cobbled together out of necessity, and other than all being in one book rather than scattered through a bunch of notes...this wasn't it.

That said, the game needs something like this - with or without the WotC stamp of approval. Then again, I'm in the camp that says the game should be designed for and marketed to college-age types and older...

According to my reading of the tea-leaves, the new STL's (or as WotC calls it, "OGL") clauses will not allow the creation of such content under it. So no 4e BoEF.

Out of curiosity, how old were you when you started playing?

I'd say that the BoEF looks more like work of 6th graders who desperately want to show the world how grown-up they are. Magical nipple clamps and Perform (Oral) checks aren't something I or any of my college-age friends want to be associated with.

Quite true - spells or magical items dealing with birth control, pre-natal care, birthing, and so on - real world versions of which have been used (to varying degrees of success) throughout written history and probably beyond - make a lot of sense. Every society has a vested interest in the creation and health of the next generation because the next generation is the future of that society. In a world of magic it is only natural that people would find ways to use that tool in the quest for these things.

To generalize, I would say that the need to strenuously separate the 'mature' from the 'immature' is one of the hallmarks of adolescence. Lord knows I did a lot of stupid crap to show how 'adult' I was, when I was an adolescent.
