D&D 4E Who has rights to BoEF, and are they in on the 4e OGL

KM---you're missing the point. Yes, I acknowledge that tons and tons of us (myself included) got interested in D&D at a young age. I think I played it the first time when I was 7, became more explicitly aware and interested in it in 5th grade (so... 10-11?) and went on from there. No argument there. In fact, I already specifically acknowledged that.

What I'm saying is that nothing about the game has ever been designed specifically to appeal to that age group. Or any age group, really.

I really don't know if a BOEF 4E is neccessary. If done, I hope it's done better then the previous one.

I didn't like the art. It was to much into leather fetish, which is not something I am particulary interested in. Nipple Clamps (wether of Concentration or Exquisite Pain) aren't really required for me.

The rules added skills and feats for performing sexual activities. The power gamer and game designer wannabe in me objects against this. A Perform subskill _might_ be okay. Maybe 4E would actually support a few "sex" feats, since they aren't as critical to your characters main role as they were in 3rd.

But honestly, judging by the group I play in, even if I might like the book, it will be of little use to me
,unless the pictures are good. But we're talking game play use here...

The Book of Erotic Fantasy was just...well, ehh. It was overtly sexual, and it's not to say that I shy away from thematically "adult" products. The problem was that it was presented as distastefully as they possibly could. While sex as an element of storybuilding has its place, this book really didn't provide the sort of chunky fluff that was neccessary; it was nothing more than a collection of immature rules for fellatio and poorly-named spells to sexually dominate enemies.

I can't believe you just used the words "chunky" and "fluff" in a thread about adult themed gaming material!

:( :uhoh: Images of "Two gamers 1 cup" are threatening to invade my head and I'm losing SAN already.

I'd say that the BoEF looks more like work of 6th graders who desperately want to show the world how grown-up they are. Magical nipple clamps and Perform (Oral) checks aren't something I or any of my college-age friends want to be associated with.

For me, the BoEF was mostly a sucess, with a few downsides.

Sure there's a few things that wouldn't fit into my campaign, but there was lots more that would.

Romance (and, to a MUCH lesser extent, eroticism) is something that can really serve to vitalize a campaign. Wouldn't it matter more to a character if he's off to rescue his beloved fiancee from a metallic dragon, than "Generic Princess B"?

Well, I always thought the Grease, Polymorph and Enlargement spells were hard proof of the fact that Wizards are kinky! :D

Immaturity is fun! Embrace the inner adolescent! lol! :)

Love affairs, marriage etc are great parts of RP, but, not major parts or it gets boring when you want to just go kick monster ass in today's session.

I've flipped through the BoEF at Borders, and the thing I remember the most is that the CR 12 great succubi can summon a CR 20 balor....that made me go hmmm.

That's straight out of the 1st Edition MM, where Succubi could Gate in Type VI Demons (one of which was named Balor). I actually sprung that trap on my players once in a 1st Edition game. The Type VI arrived riding on a Black Dragon, and really ruined their day.

It doesn't take a lot of thought to figure out how Succubi pay back powerful demons who do them favors...

I'll also say as an older player in a group full of older players, that rules for sexy encounters, sexy feats, sexy spells, etc. is very close to the last thing I want in my game. I think Bob, Kevin, Deacon, etc. are great guys but I don't want to roleplay that with them. Ew.

Considering I have known gamed with Rachel, Christina, Julie, Brandy, Sarah, Lisa, Dawn, Katie, etc. it doesn't sound that bad (and only Lisa would mind).
