Who is houseruling 3.5 changes before they try them?

Are you house ruling any of the 3.5 rules changes right off the bat?

  • No, my group is going to try them "as-is", at least for a while.

  • Yes! I really don't like some of the changes, and will be modifying them right off the bat.

I'll just be using my new races and deities, but no immediately LARGE rule system changes...

I'll be doing some MAJOR Guidebook revisions though!

I imagine if there was something we'd already houseruled that wasn't changed we'd stick with the houserules.

Also, we'll most likely stay with Wulf's/Badaxe Games' Elves book for spell creation and specialists.

Not including the two page psionics rules supplement (displays and psionics as diffrent but compatable), my house rules document is 4 pages. It runs off what I know of the revision as a base, and there's a few changes that work to bring things back closer to original 3E (buff spells at 10 min/level, power attack at half damage for light weapon, 1.5x for two-handed).

Still havn't adressed the Palidin Mount summoning, though... I'll need to change that a bit, too.

Not switching over right away, but may use some 3.5 rules as "house rules" for 3.0. Ones that are easy to implement (stat-enhancing spell duration reduction, haste, harm, stuff like that).

It depends how eager people are to switch to 3.5. We may end up playing 3.25, just so that no one feel like they are forced to buy new books.

No plans on switching at all, unless someone buys me the books or I win them in a contest (which isn't likely since I haven't entered any that I know of). Current plans are to finish out current 3E campaign (probably December to January given current rate of progress).

After campaign ends, switch to Mutants & Masterminds.

the only change in 3.5 that i've seen that i don't like is the paladin summoning thing. everything else i agree with.

if i start DMing again in the fall, it'll be straight 3.5 (though i'll probably change the paladin thing).

Two likely changes. One of which (Paladin as PrC) would have made into a 3.0 game, anyway.

Odds are good, though, that I'd house rule the Pokemount, anyway.

Somewhat more objectionable is weapon familiarity.

To say that I think these ideas (as my not-fully-informed understanding goes) are crack-induced concept would demean crack-smokers, so I'll refrain from further concept.

Missing the option...

of "I'm migrating slowly on a case-by-case basis", and "I've already got so many House Rules that 3.5 won't make any difference.", and "Other".

You've *always* got to have other on a multi-choice opinion poll.

Anyway.

Myself, I'm sticking with 3.0 until I've had a chance to evaluate 3.5. Based on what I've heard so far I'm fairly sure that some 3.5 rules will fold right in. Others, will stay 3.0-ish. And some will just be tossed right out the window.

Of course, in the latter case most of those (from what I've heard) are ones I tossed out in 3.0 too. [I am *amazed* they didn't reduce the cost of scribing spells.]

Honestly, I'm more excited about this Arcana Unearthed thingy I've heard rumors about...
