Oh give me a break, will ya!

lAst time I checked we had a D&D logo on the cover, over a dozen products on the schedule, Ed Greenwood, WOTC approval from their rules committee, the most circulated rpg magazine outside of dragon, the most popular setting according to the E N World fans (per recent poll), and the second-best selling supported setting in d20's brief history.

Yet Kenzer and Company doesn't even make the list?

Or is it that the result is obvious...we'd be number one?

Dave (if I can call you Dave :D ) I think most people don't consider you to be a D20 publisher. Consider this quote from the EN world website (which can be found between some WoTC stuff, not on the D20 publisher page):

Kenzer is the only company so far licensed to do a true D&D (not just D20 System) campaign setting for D&D.

So it's not so much that people don't think you'll be very successful, more that your success has already put you beyond the scope of this poll...

My vote is with Mongoose. They are the only company that I feel everything they have produced is easily useful. As for Kenzer I've never bought any of their stuff and neither has anyone in my group. I think that's the only company mentioned in this thread I can say that with. I'm not saying there stuff is bad or anything. Being the most populiar isn't the same as being the best.

Well, there's your problem right there!

Kenzer has made a big deal about being OFFICIAL D&D MATERIAL, with the OFFICIAL LOGO on the cover. In fact, I've personally witnessed Kenzer staff correcting distributors *multiple* times in sales forums that your materials were NOT "D20" and shouldn't be listed as such.

So I'll give you a big old "Give me a break, will ya!" right back at you, Mr. Kenzer. Either you are "D20", or you're "OFFICIAL D&D MATERIAL, with the OFFICIAL LOGO" but it's not fair to try and have it both ways. The least you can do is give us little fish who have only the d20 logo to our names the ability to fight over who gets to be the best *d20* company.

You'll note WotC, the *other* official producer of D&D material with the nifty official D&D logo wasn't listed in this poll either. You guys can fight it out over who produces the best official stuff.

Sorry to be cranky, but, well, I guess you hit a sore spot. Grr.

I love Nikchick, kudos to her for pointing out the fact that as official D&D they would not be on this list...example WotC is not on this list....:D
Thanks Nicole

Sir, I think you're coming across as somewhat offensive, and may be offending potential customers. I myself was offended, but I edited my original post to tone down my frustration.

I think part of the problem may be a small presnece of your company on the boards. You should hang out here more often, let people get to know you better.

Jesus, dude, you need to get over your bad self.

I read your campaign setting and let me tell you, there are several d20 publishers who design better books than you do. Green Ronin, Fiery Dragon, and Fantasy Flight all leap to mind as companies with better ideas and better writing than anything I've seen from Kenzer.

back to which d20 publishers are the ones to watch...i voted green ronin.

but it was a hard choice between them and mongoose. i think the best mongoose stuff has been amazing (ie demonology). but their art and production values generally are amaturish, and they have some serious detractors out there that mean that people didn't buy their stuff (after being initially really excited about their slayers guide series, i haven't bought any as a result of reviews i've read).

but they also get stuff out on time and all the time. and having the first set of mass combat rules and sea going rules out for d20 isn't going to hurt them any at all.

green ronin on the other hand have been pretty solid rules wise (bar compaints about their jade dragons and hungry ghosts), but the fact that their freeport hardcover, the first really major project has slipped from novemeber 2001 to march 2002 is a bit of a worry.

so thats my 2 cents...

That poll is down the hall and to the left. This is a different poll with a different subject matter. This poll is not about what people have done last year, but what we think people WILL do THIS year.

and the second-best selling supported setting in d20's brief history.

First off, I imagine that some of those "other" category votes are for you. I did only have 10 spots to play with.

However, no I did not exclude them from the list because I consider them any different than other D20 system publishers in any meaningful way. I did not, however, estimate that this years offerings from them would make them "one to watch." Magazines are all fine and dandy, but I while I consider KodT a good laugh, it has about zero impact on my d20 gaming experience. And likewise, I have hearn nothing on their product schedule that will make them "one to watch" this year.

Or is it that the result is obvious...we'd be number one?

Gee, humble, aren't you?
