Who Plan to Buy the LoTR Special Edition DVD trilogy boxed set?

Do you plan to buy the LoTR Special Edition DVD trilogy boxed set?

I am not altogether surprised most already own the Extended Edition of FotR and TT. This is the Fantasy & Sci-Fi section on EnWorld after all ;)

I suppose I could have rephrased the poll to indicate this is the three pack of FotR, TT, and RotK. :\

BTW, my geek license should be revoked. I still do not own any LotR DVDs, so I'll complete the set with one purchase.

I will, for certain. I held off on buying the individual releases because i knew that there would be a 40 disc super dragon tiger edition box set coming eventually. Glad to see my patience paid off =)

I've been specifically waiting for the EE boxed set, but no pre-order since I don't have a steady income. I'm certainly going to buy it, I just don't know when.

Probably not. I mean, I have the extended editions of FotR and TT already, so I'll probably jsut round it out with RotK Extended, rather than going back and buying the whole thing all over again.

I mean, my budget only goes so far... ;)

Ditto. Ditto.

Ditto... ;)

what would be the point of buying the whole EE trilogy special boxed set, unless you don't have any of them yet? Does the special set include anything extra worth having? or is it just 'special' because all three of them are together?

With all my foresight, I managed to keep from buying any of the previous extended/theatrical versions of the movies, just because I knew this one would eventually come out. So, I will be getting it. Then, of course, I'll get all of my friends together to watch the 10-11 hours of combined orc-slaying, goblin smiting, troll-stabbing goodness...

Holiday's coming up. Know of a friend who doesn't have his own set?

It's the same when they released the theatrical version of ROTK along with the theatrical LOTR Trilogy DVD set.

But if you ask me personally, I wish they re-release the separate EE Collector's Gift sets. I think I nick one of my Argonaths. By "nick," one of the figures' head snapped off. :(

Way back after The Fellowship of the Ring came out in the theatres, and my friends started discussing the different DVD releases there were going to be, I decided that I'd wait for a set exactly like this - all three films in their extended versions. This opinion was solidified after I saw the extended edition of the first film, and judged it superior to the theatrical cut.

Now, though, I've looked at it more soberly. I just don't like the films enough to want to own them on DVD, in any edition. They're excellent pieces of film-making, but I suppose I just don't like The Lord of the Rings enough to want to own them - because I doubt I'd watch them very often, which is something I definitely do with the DVDs I do own.
