Who would you cast in John Carter of Mars Movie?

Keira Knightley - Nope! She is way too skinny to pull off Dejah Thoris.

Salma Hayek - Too short and if you look at her body in the Dust to Dawn movie she has a little cottage cheese factor going on in those thighs.

I have always thought that Hugh Jackman would make a great John Carter.

For Dejah, I can't decide between Salma Hayek and Monica Belucci . . .

. . . so I'd cast both! :D

Which would, of course, warrant an obligatory lesbian shower scene.

Wow, I'm really surprised Salma Hayek is such a popular choice! I thought that was kinda a joke that originated back when we thought Robert Rodriquez was going to direct the movie, and folks like me and barsoomcore where saying he'd change it to Juan Carlos of Mars, starring Antonio Banderas and Salma Hayek as Dejah Thoris. From there, it seems to have taken on a life of it's own!

I honestly don't know who I'd prefer to see cast. John Carter has to be a real old-fashioned masculine kinda guy; not a pretty boy. He's gotta be good-looking, mucho athletic, and very swashbuckly. A buffed up Errol Flynn from his glory days in Captain Blood or The Adventures of Robin Hood would be the perfect choice, for me. I can't think of any actual living and working actors that come to mind that fit that part. Maybe Christian Bale, if he keeps as buffed as he was in Batman Begins and takes a serious crash course fencing. I can't think of anyone for Dejah Thoris that strikes me as absolutely perfect, although the suggestion of Parminder Nagra is intriguing. There may be some other cross Bollywood/British/American actresses that would be suitably good as actors, suitably beautiful, and yet exotic that could really pull it off well. Aishwarya Rai comes to mind.

Great! Let's add her, too!

(My vision, such as it is, is rapidly diverging from the heart of ERB's original, I think ;) )

Yes I can't wait for the Green Martians to burst out in a mass song and dance routine!
