Who would you rather have making D&D?

I would like to see Peter Adkison take the helm. In fact, I think he just might do that at some point.

But whomever it is that eventually takes this bull by the horns, I hope they make PRIORITY 1 the finalization of the SRD -- and then immediately publish it as the d20 System Reference Document, Volume I: Fantasy Roleplaying Edition. Once completed, and the d20 Modern Rules are published, I would then like to see the publication of the d20 System Reference Document, Volume II: Modern Roleplaying Edition. Both books should be hard-cover books, with plain white covers and plain black letters in the title. No artwork. Both should include the Licenses and the various FAQs for the licenses for the use of the material contained within. Both should also be sold with a CDROM edition in HTML, RTF, or TXT format so that the material can be cut-and-pasted into new documents.

Hmmm.... some good ideas in there.

Out of the many suggestions, only Peter Adkinson could put together the financial revenue necessary to purchase the D&D brand line. It would take an estimated $30-50 million dollars to buy it from Hasbro.
Does he have that kind of money?

I am going to be a rebel and say I prefer the current owners. The base line should be a soild old stoggy. It should continue to be concerative in rules, and presentation. You don't want the base line books to get away from the tried and true, because there is to great a chance that you will destroy the market.

The 3rd Party Publishers should be the ones that create change and intresting new concepts. This way no minority can ruin or control the direction of the basic rules. They also will always have greater freedom to experment, improve and inovate then any company that has to to the center line. They will have greater control over their products, with fewer i's to dot and t's to cross.

Go back and read Mont's reason for leaving. It allowed him to go in directions that the main rules couldn't

I'd vote for Kenzer as my first choice, though AEG, Fiery Dragon and Malhavoc Press also have proven they can produce the quality of material I'd want to see in future core products.

Personally, if it ever came to pass where Hasbro pulled the plug (which I severely doubt), my choices would be:
CEO-Peter Adkinson
VP-Jim Butler (former Brand Manger fro TSR/Wotc)
COO-John Nephew (currently of Atlas Games)
Brand Manager-Anthony Valterra (Current Brand Manager for Wotc)
Miniatures Manager-Chris Pramas (He did an excellent job at Wotc, only he was tied down by higher orders and restrictions)
Head of Research and Development-Ryan Dancey (Great at forecasting trends and developer of some really solid world concepts)
Development Team of Writers: All serve a one or two year contract term and then rotated back to freelance status to pursue their own agendas (in no particular order):
-Doug Herring, Hall Greenberg, Sam Witt, Hyrum Savage, Monte Cook, Sean Reynolds, Skip Williams, Jonathan Tweet, Andy Collins, Bruce Cordell, and T'ed Stark.

Here Here.

This would be my dream team as well. No offense to any of the Great Old Ones out there, but I would just as soon Gygax not touch it. Same for SJG, WW, and S&S. There stuff is okay, but not up to the same par as Monte, Bruce C., Chris P., and Sean R (the Four Horsemen).

Too Bad Carl Sargent isn't around anymore, I don't think he ever did anything I DIDN'T like.

I promise if I ever hit the dang lottery I will pay exhorbitant wages to the previously mentioned crew, its not like any of it would go for third world poverty or anything like that anyway.

As a side note, I think it would be HILARIOUS if Steve Jackson Games published Hackmaster and hired Gary Gygax to write several adventures!

Last night in the Chat Room Peter Adkison mentioned that when he was in control of WotC he suggested they sell all settings to smaller companies that could make a profit with them.

At the very least it would be nice to see Gary Gygax back at the helm of Greyhawk...

...agreed - I loved what Carl Sargent did with Greyhawk.
