Whole lotta lurkin' goin' on

I'm really bored at work tonight (this morning), so I've been scrolling through the members list here on EN World, and I've noticed some interesting things.

Of the 30,850 registered users, almost half -- 14,730 -- have never posted. 490 pages worth of non-posting members (at 30 users per page). Many of these people even went to the trouble of finding and posting a user avatar, but never bothered to make a post.

16,120 users have 1 post or more.

3,308 users have only 1 post.

23,415 users have less than 10 posts.

2,808 have 100 or more posts.

515 have 1,000 or more posts.

The user with the highest post total is almost 20,000 posts -- 19,388 to be exact -- ahead of the second-place poster. And that poster is more than 1,000 posts ahead of No. 3. (I'll leave their identities to those interested enough in doing a little detective work of their own.)

My post total -- 1,984 -- ranks me at No. 254, which is on page 9 of the 1,028 pages of posters and in the top 2 percent of all posters.

lol! I looked at this today. I am also in page 9. I need to hurry up and surpass Rel and get uo there with the big boys.

I only really register so I could submit news, which never works for me, but I lurk about 3-4 times a month. Oh well at least now I've broken past the 0 post threshold. Yea me!

And with a single post you've just surpassed the postcount of almost 15,000 other registered users! Amazing! ;)

Holy crap now I'm at 2! Before you know it I'll be at 3! ;)

I'm one of those people who register at like 300 different forums yet only post in about 3 (this would be my 4th) due to time restraints. Between my real job, my "doesn't pay the bills but I wish it did" job of helping to run a game review site, and my web design side job, I just don't have the time to make myself at home in many online communities.

This thread has inspired be to stop lurking, register and make my first post.

It feels good. :)

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who feels intimidated by the knowledge and the experience of some of the posters on these messageboards. Or maybe it's just how well they can say the things I want to, but usually can't put into words.

But I have learned a lot from visiting this website, and I'm sure I'll learn alot more in the future.

Glad to have you onboard. I always like to see new posters, especially Firefly fans!

That's ok. I don't lurk or post on any other RPG boards and have only recently looked for another outlet besides ENWorld (after being on Nutkin/Nothing sometime ago). I don't know how some people post thousands of times on multiple boards. I feel like I barely have enough time keeping up here.

Well, I joined ENWorld back in 2002, but the only time I usually had to check forums was during the day, and my place of employment blocked ENWorld as a "gaming" (i.e. gambling) site until earlier this year.

Now I actually have the chance to post.

Glad to see so many people are taking the opportunity to post. The more input, the better the discussion, IMHO.

Damn, I'm getting really close to 2,000 posts.

Well, here comes a post so I will FIND out my curent post total.

I hve been around ages, like a couple of years or more, mostly to protect my games formteh munchkins out there (I find out their newest traicks here)

But I rarely post. Once a discussion gets above 3 pages, most everything i wantto say is said, or I just do not have the time to read it all. Plus the topic seems to shift from the interesting new topic to a same-old same-old topic after a page and a half anyway, so it is kinda moot.

But soemtimes I catch a good new topic when it is fresh and jump all over it.

The strange thing for me is when I see someone with 1,500+ posts I've never heard of. It happens from time to time and I assume there are group of folks who are busy down in play by post who rarely venture to other forums.

Whut choo talkin' 'bout, orge!?!
