D&D General Whom here has used ultramodern 5 ?


I just got the revised book and it's a work of art.

Still have yet to seriously get into the weeds (although used the first ultramodern 5 with storm kings thunder), but checking if anybody has used it, what have they used it for and how compatible is it with normal dungeons and dragons 5e?

I got it when it was on sale but have not really gotten into it.

I am running a 5e Iron Gods conversion game so an Adventure Path with ancient sci-fi elements and some post apocalyptic Mad Max ones thrown into the fantasy world. I thought it might be good for adding some 5e stat stuff for that. I also got a bunch of 5e sourcebooks in the recent post apocalypse sale for similar reasons but just have not made the time to delve into them.
 


Can you run a game run in modern day 2021 or is the tech level more advanced? For example are there rules for cars, cell phones, fire arms, etc included?

Yes, it has all those things. You can mix and match, but it would probably be easier to run a futuristic game than a strictly modern-day one.
 




I have not had a chance to give it a spin yet, but I have been considering using it as a foundation for a sort of 5e Rifts style game. I really appreciate the mech rules. I am thinking of using Arcane Artillery for the firearms instead, maybe with some toning down on their automatic and burst damage and scaling down the sizes of their automatic fire area of effect. I would definitely check out Arcane Artillery:
