(WHUMP!) My Tome of Horrors just arrived

I popped home for lunch this afternoon and the postal service just dropped my copy of the Tome of Horrors Complete on the doorstep. I only got to look through it for a few minutes, but this thing is gorgeous.

What surprised me is it was signed by Bill Webb himself - wasn't expecting that, and a nice touch. :)

Anyone else got their copy yet?

Not yet. I'm awaiting the Swords and Wizardry version rather than the Pathfinder version, but I don't know if that makes a differnce as to when I should expect it.

Got mine yesterday and leafed through it last night. It's a beautiful book.

What I found surprising is that for it's size, the book is much lighter than I expected (definitely less than the PFRPG core book which has a smaller page count).

Its the lack of all that color ink. Probably a difference in the type of paper used as well.

Yay! My Pathfinder version of the book arrived yesterday too.

And while I haven't had time to leaf through it yet, I did have a grin from ear to ear as I walked to the house from the post box.

And yes, I too noticed that for its size, it didn't seem as heavy as I would have thought...

When Paizo sold out their quota in hours, rather than months, and they decided to print an "Unlimited Edition," Bill said he was going to sign each of these pre-ordered copies as a thank-you to those of us who bought this edition.

That struck me, too. And yet, it's not a flimsy stock of paper - it doesn't seem like it's going to fall apart or rip quickly.

I was a little disappointed when mine arrived somewhat damaged in shipping (spine bumped top and bottom, because the book was wrapped in thin bubblewrap and one piece of cardboard, leaving the corners pretty unprotected). However, the content is great, and even though I browsed the PDF when it came out this summer, it didn't compare to having the physical book in my hands. Great stuff.
