as I noted over at RPG.net, this book is a truimpth for the OGL, and a great nod to the strength of the original books. The fact that it already went back for a reprint is strong stuff.

It's also a failure for WoTC. everyone who buys this with the intention of using it, is not necessarily playing 4e and they couldn't buy it for 4e because it doesn't exist. While it might have been possible for someone to make it for 4e, given the restrictive nature of 4e's license.... well, bless Joseph Goodman for making some material for 4e as he preps his own game system but hopefully WoTC doesn't fail to learn from this.

On the other hand, perhaps those who support the OGL through purchases such as this, as I do, are not the target audience and they want 'Marvel Zombies', fans of such dedication that they only buy 'official products'. Alas, I think that door has closed forever on them.

This has been a good thread, praising the merits of the new book as well as the longevity of the original set of books. Let's not turn this into a veiled edition war thread... There's no reason to even make a statement like this.

Given that ye old Orcus wanted to make this one of the first books for 4e, I think it's important to note how successful its been and how WoTC needs to learn. In addition, it's not 'edition', it's OGL/GLS. While it may seem related, game mechanics aren't involved here at all. I play both editions.

I understand what you meant, and I know that you play both editions. It wasn't so much directed at you as it was future posters. Unfortunately, there are other people that can take a statement like that and run with it and before we know it, we've got three pages of nonsense.

I was going to edit out my last sentence (which could have been more tactfully written), but you were too quick to respond. :)
