Why cant I search?

So, I'm logged in and I want to use the Search function to find an old thread.

Yet when I go to the Search link, I'm told I dont have the priveleges to do so.

Why is that?

At the top of each page it explains that search, which is somewhat resource-intensive, is for community supporters.
