Why do we need thieves??

Conan certainly does wear armor when he can, in the original Howard stories, but he is stronger than almost any man/can wrestle gorillas and the like (not beat them, but survive a grapple long enough to win with a knife or something). Not superhuman, and I don't know if Howard would have pictured him as bodybuilder physique, per se (though maybe something like a 1920s bodybuilder, say Eugene Sandow but much taller), but he's supposed to be kind of like original comic Captain America- something like the peak of combined human strength and agility. And he's as skilled a swordsman as he is a general athlete (including climbing, leaping, etc.).
grappling a Gorrilla is Captain America territory. Id definitely consider Conan superhuman territory. He's more demi-god than man in ability if not birth.

Sorry. There was some slight miscommunication in that I thought your OP was insinuating the Thief was redundant and could be pulled from D&D without consequence. Now that I know you're referring to your own system, I think I can make a bit more sense going forward.
Thank you for the constructive criticism. It is well received. That said, I have a, (IMO), a worthy replacement. I have also expanded the base architypes to include 15 professions, not including BGC's and custom profs, with more with each expansion. I have taken a great amount of time sussing out prof's for both their feel and the role that they fill.

But a girl Jedi with a lightsaber will carve him into steaks.
Could you explain how this is relevant to the discussion? I am not sure how introducing force powers and an unlockable weapon. It does not back up the point that you can make the same argument for warrior. Which my point here refutes.

To be clear here, I am not stating one way or the other if in your system you do not have a thief, rather i am curious as to your reason either for or against. I will state in my own system I do not have one and in a skill based system, it makes sense. I have played this system for over a 1/4 of a century and not 1 complaint, nor...I wish there were thieves comment.

The OP has named exactly two RPGs in the entirety of the thread: D&D, and the RPG he's selling.

As I see it, that can be taken two ways. Either this thread is largely concerned with D&D (by inclusion or comparison), or it's an ad.
FALSE! My RPG is not for sale to the public at this time. I am concerned with my RPG yes, but only to get a feel for how the public at large will respond to there being no thief in my system. In the future, instead of making false incorrect assumptions, I politely invite you to just ask me.
