Now you have my opinion, as requested. And yet somehow I feel I’m being accused of answering it wrong. What was the correct answer?

I will answer this as nicely as I can. To hear the opinions of others. There is no wrong or right answer here. As you have clearly put it, it depends on the system. It seems to me that you opinion is not swayed one way or the other, rather it is dependant on the needs of the other mechanics. And, well that is what it is. I am not here to judge right or wrong, just to hear the arguments for or against.
