Why Do You Subscribe?

Here's a 'good' thread if you will.

Why do you subscribe to ye old DDI? Content? Character builder? It's not that expensive? Support Dragon and Dungeon?

- cost isn't too high.

- the compendium is very useful during games, however i tend to use it to find things i already know but want to review or compare. the character builder is clunky and unsatisfying but ultimately a good tool to have.

- i never use the monster builder because i tend to know what i want and just use the compendium or Masterplan.

- the maps and images are fun for creating characters or setting the scene.

- i enjoy browsing the back articles of dragon and dungeon magazines when i want some inspiration.

- the virtual table should be a pretty decent tool once it is released and the community starts developing content for it.

I use the character builder and compendium quite often (easier than looking through all the books for feats for example)
I like Dragon and occasionally rip ideas from Dungeon.

The price isn't really enough for me to worry about currently.

Reasons are:
- I play in a 4e game
- I really like the Compendium
- I like poaching the artwork for my games
- It is affordable (perhaps this is the key reason for me).

Despite the fact that:
- I lack confidence that Wizards is taking the game in the direction I would prefer.
- I hate what they have done to Dragon and Dungeon
- I much prefer what Paizo is doing in terms of rules, adventures, design and customer service.

After reading their plans for this year, I'm a little happier that Wizards is still going to support D&D even though the only dollars they seem to want out of me is in the form of the DDI. Perhaps that is exactly the plan.

The Compendium. I DM an online game using d20 Pro. When my PC's enter combat, I open each of their opponents in a separate Compendium window. When somebody uses a power, I can reference the Compendium to adjudicate it's effects.

I can also use the Compendium, along with google docs, to plan my adventures while I'm at work.

Dungeon and Dragon are intermittently fun to read. The quality of each is uneven, and I wouldn't subscribe just for them.

I use the monster builder only rarely, mostly just to level existing monsters up and down.

I don't give a damn about the character builder, and I'm tired of people bitching about it.

I use to subscribe for the CB, MB, and the compendium.

The compendium still retains enough value for me to stay subscribed, as I prefer the old style CB, at least for the moment.

Content? Yes
Character builder? Definately
It's not that expensive? Check
Support Dragon and Dungeon? You bet.

Now that WotC has explained the reason they have cancelled several books, I'm looking forward to more content.

To ensure I remain a DDI customer, I hope they add:
The long awaited VTT table. I'd even pay a bit more if this is added.
Beef up the magazines with more content. More adventures in Dungeon (Delves are nice, but do not count as adventures).

I don't think you're going to find many original reasons beyond this point .

Reasons for me:

• The compendium
• The Character Builder. Yes, even the online form, because it gets updated with new content, and it really hasn't been that bad as to bugs/problems, at least for me.
• I still enjoy the magazines, although I do hope they'll improve (the last few articles seem to indicate they are).
• The price is not exactly exorbitant.

Even though I have canceled my subscription and will not subscribe until I think its worth it, I like the positive vibe from this thread. I wish a few more people would speak their mind about liking DDI. Just so there is more perspective from different angles.

My reasons are pretty much the same as those given in previous posts.

DDI a very economic way for me. I run one campaign only and don't play in any one, so my need for new material is not so dire. The last book I bought was RotG, more than one year ago.

DDI has me completely covered for a bargain price.
