Why Enworld?

I find that other boards tend to be clicky. If you're in with the moderators click then you can do just about anything you want. If, OTOH, you are not in the moderator's click then you get spanked anytime you say anything even remotely out of line - even when in defense of oneself.

I've actually seen people punished or banned from boards for responding to a flame in kind when nothing was done to the original flamer. You never see this sort of thing here on enworld - and believe me I have stepped out of line here.

What brings me here is the little secret tidbits on the upcoming release of the new 3rd edition of D&D. Oh you mean now?

Force of habit.

In no particular order:

Talking about the game
Gaining ideas and inspiration
Finding out what is coming down the pipe
The sanity value of being able to argue about things without feeling the results really matter

As in features of ENWorld:

  1. The people ;)
  2. General Forum. It's more about the essence of gaming. I'm not so much into power builds and the like, I'm more about the ideas and adventure, and the general forum is the place to find that.
  3. D20 modern and other - I like other d20 games and Spycraft, so talk about games, solutions, and new products there.
  4. House rules
  5. Occasional dips into the rules forum, mostly to get opinions on balance and problems.
  6. Of course, I'm running a game in the PbP forums right now.

For the hidden sub-forum with the nekkid pictures of Lidda :D...

And for the general D&D goodness, all the more so recently with a growing number of discussions spanning all editions of the game.

1) The Rules forum; Hypersmurf in action is fun to watch, but I like how it feels like a neighborhood bar: all the usuals know the other usuals' opinions already, so you don't have grognards constantly fussing at one another.
2) General forum; easy to mine for neat ideas, and very entertaining.
3) Story Hour forum; SepulchraveII has done more to keep me around here than any other poster.
