D&D 5E Why Good PLayers Do Not Homebrew

I think I missed something.

Good Forumgoers Should Keep Up With The Thread Topic Meta.

No they shouldn't. That turns this into a self-reinforcing "old boys club" which is effectively closed to outsiders and will slowly die as people in the club slowly move on to other things. That's something we do not want to happen to this community.

Nor does it make this site a go-to location for D&D gamers, whose insight and engagement we should cherish.

Mercurius, this is just a joke thread. Zard has been posting a plethora of "Good X Should not Y" threads, with varying levels of seriousness. This one is just a little bit more 'random randomness is random'-y than usual.

Not knowing the in-joke du jour hardly turns this forum exclusionary. Every online community has its own posting expectations and in-jokes, even ones as diffuse as a subreddit. I mean, such a standard as you're espousing would make using "Lemon curry" or "Eric Noah is my half-fiend love child" as post options rude or exclusionary. I view them rather as something to be learned as an on-ramp to being brought in to the community here.

I never said that they were rude or exclusionary. I said that good forumgoers should not be expected inherently to keep up with the thread topic meta. I am not espousing any standard. Simply explaining the joke to those who do not get it works perfectly fine, and that's exactly what I did.

Ok, but you do understand that posting "Good Forum Goers Should Keep Up with The Thread Topic Meta" in the style of the snowclone "Good X Should Y" is, in and of itself, making a joke about the need to keep up with the topic? It's obviously not something I'm actually expecting anyone to do. :)

I thought I would attempt a joke. Also you do not tend to get many responses if you post home brew stuff especially home brew monsters. 1st time I think I have heard of a home brew met.

I have got 27 points mostly from this thread in the last 4 days, not sure if that is good or bad. And some posters caught a few typos or corrected the mat so that was useful.
