Why I Hate Unearthed Arcana

I don't actually like all these varient rules, and options. Its kinda the curse of 3rd edition and the OGL, that we are now flooded with new feats, spells, MI's, PrC's...etc, and the players want access to all of them.

Curse of the 3rd edition / OGL? It is a blessing, who does not want a lot of rules and variants to chose from? I certainly do. Who does not want lot's of different settings? I certainly do.

It is the beauty of the system that the are so many variants, if you don't like something, you can easily find a replacement.

On the other hand, a group should always make decisions on what rules and variants they use before starting an campaign, because it is just plain unfair to change the rules during a running campaign / game.

Don't get me wrong, I believe that the OGL has done a great job in keeping D&D going with fresh ideas and products. But when every single book now has new races, spells, feats, equipment, magic items, classes, PrC's... etc, you bog down in a huge morass of optional material.

I've bought a fair few books that aside from reference won't get that much use because I already have far too many feats...etc. You can't use everything and shouldn't try.
