I want to throw out another idea on the whole increasing of the D&D market and see what people think.
I really liked the concept of the D&D game day package. Granted, the modules have been too simplistic, but they’re designed to run in a couple of hours demo, not be a full session. However, the idea of a package that a fledgling DM can buy which includes an adventure, the printed maps, and a set of miniatures (without PC ones) is great. I think a few starter sets along the lines of the box set WoTC put out previously would do well to help out new gaming groups. Now only do they get something to start with, but now they have the miniatures to keep using in other adventures down the line. You get consumable and reusable together.
If they were kept to lower level adventures, they’d make better intros. Plus, the miniatures are more likely to be common creatures that would get re-used. (Heck, I might buy them just for the miniatures and maps if they were reasonably priced.)
Does anyone have any experience with how that box set sold or whether it really is a value to new gamers?
