Why is D&D for sale?

Apparently, I keep hearing that Hasbro has the D&D line up for sale. That it has been up for sale for quite sometime, ever since they bought WotC it seems.

If D&D is doing so well, as stated constantly over and over by WotC, then why is it up for sale?

You keep hearing it because people like to start unfounded rumors. There is nothing that a person can point to that will actually show Hasbro has been looking to sell D&D. They have 'Just heard" someone who told someone that someone whispered to them they saw on a napkin that D&D was up for sale.

I kept hearing 4e was coming out in 2005.

Until I hear anything verifiable, I don't place any stock in such claim, much less lose any sleep over why.

(Though why would be easy... D&D at its best never did as good as M:TG or Pokemon.)

Well it wasn't a link to anything. I have a friend who surfs for information on Hasbro and WotC and the D&D franchise and he's been saying each time I've hung out with him (which isn't often, busy schedules and all) that Hasbro grabbed WotC only for its popularity and great sales on MtG and Pokemon and that they've put D&D up for sale for quite a long while.

Apparently, he says it's up for sale for approximately $75 million.

LOL Ok, ok, I get it. I shouldn't take what he says to heart. I know. It's just hearsay.

But seriously, he's saying it's posted by Hasbro that D&D is for sale. I don't know where you would look for that sort of thing, but could anyone confirm whether or not this is possible?

I'm just throwing this out here in case someone does know something about it or can confirm this is really just crap. I figured I'd bring it up here since ENWorlders, I assume, are very knowledgeable in these areas.
