Why is there no talk about the Castle Keepers Guide preview?

Oh, and I really like the Combat Advantages section, though I'd dole them out far more liberally than is suggested in the book. A great way to make combat much more visual and dynamic, without resorting to tactical near-boardgaming.

That is the cool thing about C&C, nothing is "canon", so we are not only free to change things to suite our tastes, but the Trolls would encourage you to do so.

Like where I said above I am not sure if I like the class progressions beyond 12th level, I'm not upset about it at all, because to me C&C has always been about tinkering it into something I like better. Since my players have stuck with me for 4 years or more, I think I am doing it "right" for us.

So by all means, do it how you think is best, that is the heart of C&C IMO.

I kind of agree on the post level 12 stuff. D&D was really developed around levels 1 to 10 (or so) and games descended from it continue to do best at these levels. There is a role for "epic gaming" but the system always seems to start having issues; even if these aren't severe I still like the lower levels.

But, that is what is cool about the system (as you said): like with AD&D 1E, we all pick the elements we want to use.

I had heard that the 1st PRINTING of the C&C PHB was pretty badly edited. That's why I held off until the 2nd printing came out and I was very happy with it. I was disappointed that in the 3rd and 4th printings they didn't seem to incorporate errata and had new editing errors.

The really big disappointment for me as for editing was Castle Zagyg 1: Yggsburgh. There was a whole section of text that was out of place and many copy/paste errors. I am not bothered by misspellings and punctuation errors. But when large blocks of text are on the wrong page that makes it harder to understand. Also until I saw the errata I was beginning to think that Jessup Littler was the Halfling equivalent of Kaiser Sosa!

OK, I have read through this now. To sum up it has tons of tools, resources, and ideas to help CK's get their job done. From suggested level progression beyond 12th level, to building races, building worlds, alternative magic systems, gear, gear wearing out rules, and a whole lot more, any fan of C&C who is a CK should get tons of use out of this book. Especially CK's who don't have such resources.
