Why the gnome must survive....

Dear and gentle ENworlders,
I have like the rest of you wondered in great amazement as to the destruction of the gnome race. Some have wondered why it wasn't sooner, others are heralding this as the end of the universe as we know it.

I personally have much grander reasons as to why WotC has managed to make a huge mistake or at least a miscalculation in their plans...no more really good gnomish puns.

For example, no longer can we regale the holiday tune of dragons singing about their favorite Christmas feast...Oh there's no race like gnomes for the hollandaise...

Or can the reply to "I'm going to play an illusionist, which race should I be?" ...there's no race like gnomes, there's no race like gnomes....

or even bards because...gnome is where the art is...

As you can see, WotC has made a simple error that I feel that we are honor bound to correct, so please insert your best gnomish puns here and let WotC see the error of their ways.

I'm no echo gnomist*, but I hear the book will be expensive. In times like these, every centaur two counts.

And apparently the pages will be numbered with gnoman rumerals.

With 4E goblin up gnomes, D&D humour will be in poor elf.

They are being destroyed? I thought they just were not in the PHB being released in June. As far as I've seen there has been Gnome-ntion that they are gone forever as a PC race.
