Why won't the glue work? (minis)

First Post
I've got a dozen metal minis (Games Workshop) I'm trying to put together, and I just can't get the glue to hold. I've tried Tester's, Super, and Krazy glues.

I've successfully used the Tester's to put together some plastic minis. I've successfully used the Krazy to put together some other metal minis. But for some reason, on these minis, the glue will not dry and hold.

What in the world am I doing wrong? This is driving me mad.

I've tried a light amount of glue. I've tried just glopping it on in large amounts. Nothing works.

Please help me. I need some advice.

Sometimes you need to clean the minis. Use a soft toothbrush to be sure to get into all of the crevases.

Thanks for the notes. I have done this before, so I know the basics. The pieces connect well, and I've gotten rid of the flashing. It's extra odd because three of the minis have gone together just fine. Two of the minis are the same model, and one went together without problem, but the other just will not hold.

I put the glue on, put the pieces together and hold them for up to 60 seconds. But then the pieces come apart like there was no glue at all. It's like the glue is just water. A couple of times I've tried, the glue at least had some tackiness, but just no hold. Three different glues from three different tubes; all newly purchased.

I haven't tried toothbrushing the pieces, so I'll give that a try. And I'll check out those links for more info.

Thanks.

I use a two part epoxy putty for minis. I can put a little ball of putty between the joints with a touch of glue and it will hold on it's own after 5-10 seconds. It's really hard to break the binding later, so make sure you get it lined up right the first time.

I have had very good luck with Zap-a-Gap, which is a particular brand of superglue sold in my FLGS. It just seems to hold better when dealling with minis.

Also, if washing the pieces does not help sufficiently, priming them first usually does.

Good luck :)

I have to second zap-a-gap. It's great stuff. I put together a dragon last week, and fill the holes with zap-a-gap, insert wing, hold for 10 seconds. Done. Awesome, awesome stuff.
