Wil Wheaton mentions Mongoose PDF in his blog

Here is a cut and paste from Wil Wheaton's blog:

The Quintessential Aristocrat
My friend Martin, who is in my gaming group, wrote a PDF for Mongoose called "The Quintessential Aristocrat," and it was just published this week.

I think a few gamers read WWdN, and they may want to take a look at it. Martin's an incredibly creative guy (sadly, our characters don't know each other in this campaign, yet, so we're reduced to giving each other :):):):) out of character the entire play session, mostly centered around Martin's always fabulous choice of footwear) and it's worth a look, if you're into playing Aristocrats, or just making your buddies think you are one.

*sniff* Cheers.

(Uhm. Yeah. Looks like I need to read it, too.)

I thought it was pretty cool that Wil did that. He mentioned to me last fall that he would if/when Mongoose published my book.

Further proof that Wil is a nice guy and a gamer just like the rest of us. I'm playing in a Dawnforge campaign with him right now - he's playing a Tiefling Soul Knife. At least, we think he's a Tiefling. Who knows? In Dawnforge, he could be a doppelganger and we wouldn't know.

And, he does always give me the business about my choice of shoes. I think he's secretly jealous that he doesn't own a 3-year old pair of black Sketchers ankleboots that have been re-soled.

(Edited to fix typos)

Yeah, but I bet he's still getting flaks for being Wesley Crusher, the "boy who saved Enterprise(-D)."

To be a Devil's advocate, is this thread some form of propaganda to allay any concern about Wil's having to get a column in the Dungeon magazine?

Uh oh, he's onto you guys!

*gives Ranger some pills*

There, much better. Off you go. Bye bye, now. ;)

Speaking of characters and their shoes. Anyone that played Everquest will get a laugh out of this.

One of my friends had a wizard. And there are really no shoes for wizards in that game until way into the teens that are worth a darn.

So, he was playing around with his fishing pole and fished out a pair of sandalds from the water. I think you can sell them for 1 cp. Basically, they are considered trash from a fishing standpoint, since a fish - if you catch one, sells for about 6 silver, IIRC.

Anyway, not having any shoes at all, he chose to just wear them - instead of selling them. Now, in the picture, these things are covered in slime and algae! He wore these until like level 20 or something until he finally acquired something magical.

I think that's a not uncommon occurance for casters in EQ. I know I wore my fishing shoes for a long time too :)

I look forward to Wil's column in Dragon.

You didn't need to do that your published by Mongoose... ;) [J/L]

I hope I caught most of them before I sent my manuscript to Mongoose. I had two friends proof-read the whole thing (non-gamers, they just read it for grammar and spelling) and I also read the entire thing all the way through one last time before sending it in. And, of course Mongoose had an editor look at it.

Congrats on getting published! (That's an honor I know I will never earn.)

Thanks. I wrote a little blurb about my experiences writing the book over the past two years. It's here on ENWorld at http://www.enworld.org/forums/showthread.php?t=92084.

Not really. I just thought it would be interesting to post this tidbit here. :)

On another note, Samothdm, does Wil post here? You probably can't say, but I thought it wouldn't hurt to ask. ;)
