"Wild" armor ability

Does wild armor apply a check penalty, arcane spell failure, or count as armor for movement purposes while the wearer is wild shaped?

It appears that the armor and armor enhancement bonus remain, and all other effects of the armor go away. Is this correct?

For reference, the text of wild shape is below

The wearer of a suit of armor or a shield with this ability preserves his armor bonus (and any enhancement bonus) while in a wild shape. Armor and shields with this ability usually appear to be made covered in leaf patterns. While the wearer is in a wild shape, the armor cannot be seen.

It can be argued either way. The armor bonus come from the armor, the penalties would stay Vs. It does not say, so they go away.

I say the penaties stay, but I have a strong dislike of that enhancment and the 3.5 druid.

The armor melds into the animal form, only the armor bonus applies. Since the animal isn't wearing the armor the penalities don't apply.

In Complete Adventurer there is the Beastskin armor enhancement that changes the armor to match the animal form. In this case all the effects of the armor apply and it is a +2 enhancement.
