Wild Mages and item production

Hey, all.

My wizard is planning on taking the Wild Mage PrC next level, and a thought occurred to me. How does a wild mage determine the caster level of an item he's creating? Do they use their unmodified caster level, their caster level - 3, their caster level - 3 + 1d6, or some other method? Thanks!

A Wild Mage uses the normal caster level, just like anyone else.

Wild Magic (the -3 and the +1d6) only applies to spellcasting.

make sure to take practiced spellcaster (feat from complete arcane) to make sure that instead of having that pesky -3 CL you have a normal one +d6 have a nice day!

Not really. Practiced Spellcaster does not eliminate the casting penalty from Wild Magic (because it only applies during spellcasting and Practiced Spellcaster only applies when you gain a level).

See the old thread about Wild Magic and Practiced Spellcaster for further explanation. ;)
