Level Up (A5E) Wild Shape and Stats for Monsters by Challenge Rating

Given the actually consistent monster math, would I be correct in assuming that if you get attached to a low CR beast form, lets say a Saber Tooth Tiger affectionately named "Minxie", you can figure out where the monster compares to standard CR values (AC 80%, DPR 120%, etc etc), then apply the same modifiers to your maximum form CR and have a functioning higher CR version of that form that effectively grows with you instead of being stuck and falling behind? If so this is a huge boon, Class Fantasy wise, to the Druid and should absolutely make up for now having a limited amount of forms known.

Yeah, couldn't resist that reference. Also just seemed like an ideal well known example of being attached to a particular form regardless of how well it functions at higher level.
