Wild surge with psi-like abilities

Obscure

First Post
A question for the psionic buffs out there: can the wilder's wild surge ability be used to augment a psi-like ability? (For example, can a maenad wilder augment her 1/day Energy Ray ability). Pg. 31 of the EPH states, "A wilder can choose to invoke a wild surge whenever she manifests a power." On pg. 53, we have, "Some psionic creatures automatically manifest powers, called psi-like abilities...."

I read this as: when using a psi-like ability, one is manifesting a power, hence it can be augmented with wild surge (and also, incidentally, modified by feats like Quicken Power, etc.). Any thoughts?

Anyone? Bueler?

Is this really obvious? Has it been discussed before (I couldn't find anything...)? Any thoughts/comments are welcome.

Under the heading "Psi-Like Abilities and Feats", in the Monsters section, it states:

Creatures with access to psi-like abilities can use the feats Empower Spell-Like Ability and Quicken Spell-Like Ability.

These feats can be used only on psi-like abilities that do not have increased effects due to augmentation. Furthermore, the creature can empower only a psi-like ability with a level less than or equal to half its manifester level (round down) minus 2, and can quicken only a psi-like ability with a level less than or equal to half its manifester level (round down) minus 4.

The implication is that psi-like abilities use the Spell-Like Ability meta-feats, rather than the metapsionic feats.

As for Wild Surge - I'd say yes, that works, since psi-like abilities are always augmented based on manifester level, and Wild Surge increases your manifester level.

Well, applying the feats did sound a bit too good to be true, but I'm interested in what people think about the use of wild surge. Thanks, Hyp!
