It's almost like people get tired of the same handful of options and crave different experiences, even if it's just Taco Bell rearranging the same ingredients into a new combination.

The Majority of the time I go to Taco Bell, I order the Mexican Pizza. However, there are plenty of times I order the Crunchwrap Supreme, Nachos or monthly special. If you looked at the stats of my orders, you would assess that only the Mexican Pizza is worth keeping as I rarely order the other items twice in a row.

Dragonborn are very popular in younger players. All of my kids friends seem to pick them as their first character.

Well, honestly, the term has probably become applied to too many not-really-similar things in both fiction and games, but that boat has long since sailed.

Not at all. To bring it back to species options, some are good with Human/Elf, while some need a goo man, a bird, a cat person, and a robot.

Neither are correct.

The main point is that “circus troupe” parties remain uncommon. I played a Wemic and a Flind in 2e yet the majority of my characters Have been human or half-elf.

I gave 20+ options in my current games and 1 party is human, wood elf, half-wood elf, and dwarf. The other is human, dwarf, high elf, aasimar, and gnome.

The second party is most diverse I have seen in years.

This may be changing but I think most people still prefer to hew closer to human-like species.
