Will 3.5 first printings be full of errors?

So I'm sitting here reading about the 3.5 versions of the books, and I want to pre-order them, but one thing is giving me pause: the possibility that the first printing of the 3.5 books will be full of errors, necessitating a second printing soon thereafter with the included errata. (Which is what happened with the first printing of the PH, 3.0-version.)

What do you think? Am I being overly paranoid? Should I wait? Not wait? Aaargh!

Will there be errors? Of course there will, there are always errors. Will the errors make the book unusible? No, I still use the first prining of the 3rd edition books and they care perfectly fine.

Also, consider that it may be over a year at least before a second printing comes out. So, you could wait, but I wouldn't. As long as you have EN World, errors are always able to be dealt with.

No more than the first printing of the 3.0 PH that I got that was missing 32 pages from the combat section. I was able to exchange it for another first printing of the 3.0 PH though, complete with those original errors! Come to think of it, my Sword and Fist first printing had some errors as well.

I remember getting into rules arguments based on my only having read the wrong rules in my PH.

I'll probably get the 3.5 PH and MM eventually, but I'll probably get the srd first and let the first wave of printing and "field testing" go through a cycle first.

That's a long wait.

You''l have to give it what, 16 months?, for the second printing, depending on the demand?

Or buy the book, then wait a few days for your fellow ENWorlders to point out the problems.....a few days? What am I thinking: a few minutes.

Considering how quickly the consumers discovered numerous errors right after the release of the 3.0 edition player's handbook, I don't understand why Wizard's doesn't get more fans to proofread their books. Most would be willing to do it for free and would submit to a nondisclosure agreement. Why is something like this not practiced?

I personnally found the number of errors in the 3.0 edition players handbook to be excessive given all the resources Wizards has available. Hopefully this is not the case with the 3.5 books.

The only 3.0 book where I replaced the first printing with a later one is the PHB. For the other books, it just wasn't worth it.

Over on his boards, Andy Collins said they did a big survey on how many errors players could tolerate in their books. They then took that number and made sure there were that many errors in the PHB plus one additional error to break the camel's back.

The numbers of errors will be >0 and < the total number of words.

;)

The "WAIT FOR THE SECOND PRINTING" Campaign officially launched today...

Please tell me that was a belated April Fool's joke?

* Sighs *

Always prepare for the worst, or better yet, let the first 100,000 starry-eyed gamers worldwide buy the books and when they're no longer starry-eyed, they can find the errors for Wizards (and shame their company's editing staff yet again) so they can do a proper rulebook for the second printing.

The moral of this tale: Wait for the Second Printing (unless you win the rulebooks in a contest, so you can help those 100,000 starry-eyed gamers find any errors overlooked by Wizards' editing staff, and then I can be the Second Printing). :p

No offense intended, but that is my personal feeling on this matter, and I'm sticking to it. All I ask of Wizards: Prove Me Wrong.
