Will AI replace Dungeon Masters?

This reads like it was written by ChatGPT. Will forum posts be replaced with AI?
I thought the same thing. And sadly, even I find myself sometimes wondering... should I ask a question on ENWorld where most of the answers will be off-topic, promoting someone else's agenda, or attacking the premise of my own thread? At least AI so far generally tries to answer the questions, while a lot of people on the forums do not :(

On Topic:

I think there is some subset of players for whom an AI GM would be perfectly servicable, because their interest in the game is casual and their respect for the GM role is minimal. They are there is drink soda and kill orcs (or whatever) while joshing with their friends. A real life meat-sack GM is actually an impediment to their fun.

Someone WILL offer this service, and I am not convinced that someone won't be WotC. But I don't think the majority of players will want to use it.

AGREED on this point.

The only thing that I disagree with is that the majority of players wont want it. Set the AI up to emulate Matthew Mercer or Brendan Lee Mulligan or whoever their favorite celebrity GM is at the moment? And it will be EXTREMELY popular.

I want to design things and love minis and terrain. I play more than dm historically.

But there are times we would like to play but no one has anything prepared.

It would be really fun to have a one shot on the spot with AI and see if it’s just a night of fun or if it grows as a seed for something ongoing.

But I don’t ever see us giving up the fun of being DM entirely.

AI is great for searching and organizing large amounts of information. It is not great at creativity. I've no doubt that AI could run an acceptable one-shot, but over the course of a campaign, I think it's limitations would become evident, and a degree of sameness would creep in. Things would get repetitive and boring.

I love how this whole topic comes from this blog: AI Game Master for DnD inspired text adventure RPGs

Friends & Fables is the world's first generative tabletop roleplaying game (GTTRPG) inspired by DnD 5e. It has tools so you can build a world full of custom homebrew NPCs, monsters, items, and spells and then play through the world in a 5e campaign with an AI game master, solo or with your friends. The AI campaign engine makes the TTRPG experience super easy - it tracks your stats, takes notes, and creates new content automatically so you can focus on the roleplaying.

Even the post itself sounds written by AI.
