Will Dragon cultural/politcal climate stay the same ?

And what I mean by that is will the old relationships stay the same ?

Gold and Silver dragons share a close bond of mutual understanding holding similar ideals
Red and Silver are mortal enemies often fighting over shared habitat
Metallic Dragons seem to have an easier time of getting along
Chromatic dragons are often found solo carrying out their own evil plans.
Dragon wars are always Metallic vs Chromatic

Personally I'd like to see some more flavor as far as dragons go. Metallic dragons as a society can be good so long as there is the potential for such a thing as a Neutral or even an evil Gold Dragon. Why should there not be the possibility that Blue and Silver dragon might make a pact to attack red dragons for a time. Dragon clans would be more interesting as feudal tribes forever making and breaking alliances. Sure the metallic dragons might find it easier to get along and the ole gold/silver relationship might be there but there should at least be the potential that for some reason silver dragons could turn on gold dragons.

In their endless wisdom WotC removed the alignment from the dragons so it is now a free for all.

Also it looks like dragons won't be able to do any politics or intrigues anymore beyond "burn dowm small village" as they won't have the tools for that (magic) anymore.

Um, I don't have spells but I can still engage in politics and intrigue on a low level.

I'm fairly certain that's true of most presidential candidates as well.

Though I have my eye on Senator Darkblade Asmodei. The goatee is a dead give-away.

If it's intelligent, motivated, and has a lot of weight/power to throw around, it's political.

Hell, all a dragon has to do is just fly into the center of a humanoid encampment and go "I AM GOD" and immediately is worshiped for not destroying them wholesale.

Alternatively, I've always loved "Big Monster is small community's guardian, in exchange for tribute." A dragon keeping its territory (and the settlements in that territory) safe from Big Threats, or keeping the more notable monsters in line, equates to protection (by way of appreciative, protective subjects) and tribute. Especially in a PoL setting.

Money is more than enough to do politic and intrigues - often much better suited than magic, with all the magic counter measures that may be in effect.

Heroes burst into the dragon's lair, finding the dragon sitting in the middle of an empty floor.

"Where's your hoard?!"

The dragon smirks. "Tied in investments, bonds, and collateral."

Dragon: " You may find life a little difficult from now on, the watch and major are in my pocket. Have a good day sirs."

Depending on the size of the village the dragon will likely be greeted with a swarm of arrows or all villagers run away panicked from it. In either case it will not allow the dragon to influence the town politically in any way.

Except that a dragon without magic has no way to spend the money. Bribing the major personally is not an option and sending agents is very risky and inflexible (the dragon can't contact the minion or major but instead has to wait till they come to his, probably very secluded, lair to give them orders).
