Will Google Wave Play a Part in Your Game?

and google wave will work much better in a community than as individuals. has anyone on enworld signed up yet? we should start getting each other invited, and then we can begin experimenting with how it can improve our rpg experience. i'm very interested in its potential.

Agreed. If Google Wave is open-source enough to gain a critical mass of independent developers, it might not replace email, but it would probably replace Facebook, et. al.

Bingo. (enough with the other stuff about what will replace email and cell phones - this is worth noting for online play...)

With a few open source developed add ons like a dice roller, and integrating an online game mapping tool, this becomes an easy way to do an online table top.

This is huge.

There's a gadget for Wave called Ribbit. You add it to a wave, and each person participating in the wave enters his or her phone number into the gadget. No one but the owner of the phone number can see their number. Once everyone has entered their phone number, you click a button on the gadget and everyone's phone rings simultaneously.

They pick it up, and they're on a conference call, while waving. How's that for online collaboration?

Google Wave RPG Extensions

Hi all, I'm planning to develop a few extensions to play rpgs via Wave. If anybody wants to help me (now, brainstorming and some experimental develops), your ideas and help will be welcome.

I also have 1 invite left, but I thinks they're lotsa out there, so that'll be not a problem.

Please contact me at tomas.pica [at] googlewave or [at] gmail

Happy gaming :)

PD: And, yes, this is my first post btw, sorry for not making a proper presentation.

Leo Laporte's podcast, This Week In Google, talked extensively about Wave (The TWiT Netcast Network with Leo Laporte). One thing they said was that the "backbone" software was freely avaliable and any one can download it and install it on their own system. This DOES NOT mean anyone can get a Wave account. Just that anyone can run their own client .... like haveing your own IRC server.

I doubt this will be a major gaming component for me, as I am still, by preference, a face-to-face gamer, although this is better than straight texting.

We'll see -- I could change my mind with time. ;)

I am giddy at the thought of Google Wave and all of the possibilities that lay before it.

I also hate IE6 with the fury of a thousand dying suns.

AAAARRRGGGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!

I am looking for a Wave invite too.

I just love the fact that this references Firefly/Serenity! I signed up for an invite for my personal and business emails. I would love to try this out, looks promising.

Cheers,
E

It sounds interesting, but I won't know if I'll be using it for games until such time as I've seen the features.
