Wind patterns on the oceans of fantasy settings

I was looking at the random wind direction chart in the Arms and Equipment Guide in the Vehicle section. The table is a rather simple affair, role d8, 1=South, 2=SW, etc.

It got me thinking, do any fantasy settings have the wind patters of their oceans marked, and how they affect sea travel, including the mechanics of navigation.

Has anyone tried to add such detail to an existing setting?

Kalamar's Atlas details wind paterns and currents. I use them when my players make ocean voyages to add a bit of depth to their ocean voyages.

I do currents and general patterns that I place on some of my maps (which my players never see). I have thought about putting more but have found that the information is provided to my players by NPCs.

I play on a historically modified Earth for exactly that reason -- I really like having weather patterns, ocean currents, and other such things available.

I find that my players are rarely interested in such trivia. I can improvise answers to such questions at the table if they come up.
