Wind Wall vs Gorgon Breath Weapon...

First Post
In a game and we are going to be facing a Gorgon soon, use a divination and have a map that talks about it. I was looking for something that might help against the Gorgon's breath weapon and remember Wind Wall.

Wind Wall states:
Gases, most gaseous breath weapons, and creatures in gaseous form cannot pass through the wall

In the MM it does not define what the Gorgon's breath weapon is, gas or what, but the drawing of the Gorgon has green gas coming from its nose and mouth.

So does it have a gas breath weapon? And if so would Wind Wall stop it or at least give some protection?

Thanks! James

It looks pretty clear that it's a gas. It's definitely a breath weapon, and I feel like any breath weapon that doesn't deal fire/electricity/acid/sonic damage is a gas. Wind wall should block that. More to the point, though, tisk tisk to you and your PC buddies for basing your pre-dungeoneering intelligence on the Monster Manual. That stuff's hands-off for civilians.

D&D Gorgon breath weapon has been petrification 'gas' since the start of D&D. In 3.5 if the DM does not 'want' it to be stopped by a wind wall, the rules allow for that DM to be 'right', but 30 years of tradition do say otherwise.
